Erosion Modelling Indicates a Decrease in Erosion Susceptibility of Historic Ridge and Furrow Fields Near Albershausen, Southern Germany

چکیده
Ridge and furrow fields are land-use-related surface structures that widespread in Europe represent a geomorphological key signature of the Anthropocene. Previous research has identified various reasons for intentional unintentional formation these structures, such as use mouldboard plough, soil improvement drainage. We used GIS-based quantitative erosion modelling according to Universal Soil Loss Equation (USLE) calculate susceptibility selected study area Southern Germany. compared calculated two scenarios: (1) present topography with ridges furrows (2) smoothed without furrows. The studied site reduce by more than 50% surface. Thus, first time, we were able identify lower one possible causes ridge fields. Finally, our communication paper points future perspectives analyses historical erosion.

متن کاملErosion Control in Furrow Irrigation Using Polyacrylamide
Currently gravity irrigation remains the most widely used in agricultural areas and 90 percent of plantings, the water is applied to the plots by gravity. One of the main problems with these systems is erosion, which is a by product of the erosive forces of water over the row, which brings soil loss and therefore decreases in crop yield. Erosion is the removal of surface soil material caused by...
متن کاملModelling Furrow Irrigation-Induced Erosion on a Sandy Loam Soil in Samaru, Northern Nigeria
Assessment of soil erosion and sediment yield in furrow irrigation is limited in Samaru-Zaria. Data was collected in 2009 and 2010 and was used to develop a dimensionless model for predicting furrow irrigation-induced erosion (FIIE) using the dimensional analyses approach considering stream size, furrow length, furrow width, soil infiltration rate, hydraulic shear stress, soil erodibility, and ...
متن کاملNumerical modelling of concentrated leak erosion during Hole Erosion Tests
This study focuses on the numerical modelling of concentrated leak erosion of a cohesive soil by a turbulent flow in axisymmetrical geometry, with application to the Hole Erosion Test (HET). The numerical model is based on adaptive remeshing of the water/soil interface to ensure accurate description of the mechanical phenomena occurring near the soil/water interface. The erosion law governing t...
متن کاملImproved water capture and erosion reduction through furrow diking
Crop production in Georgia and the Southeastern U.S. can be limited by water; thus, supplemental irrigation is often needed to sustain profitable crop production. Increased water capture would efficiently improve water use and reduce irrigation amounts and other input costs, thus improving producer’s profit margin. We quantified water capturing and erosional characteristics of furrow diking by ...
